Welcome Letter to Families

Dear Parents, Guardians and Students:

 

Thank you for taking the time to open this memo and review the following information about school start up.  We hope you and your family have enjoyed the summer months and are looking forward to back to school routines.  At ILC, we are busy with final preparations to welcome students back after the Labour Day long weekend for their respective orientation days starting Sept. 7, 2022. This “message to families” contains preliminary information regarding our school start up and will hopefully clarify any questions you might still be pondering and allow you to plan for the week.

 

School Start Up Schedule: 

Tuesday Sept. 6

Personal Education Plan (PEP) Meetings for new students ONLY

  • New students who have not yet completed a PEP with their Teacher Advisor (TA), please contact the front desk at Broadmead or Saanichton to book an appointment.
  • This does not apply to Junior Cohort students.

Wednesday, Sept. 7

Orientation for RETURNING students only by learning zone

  • Zone 1 students : 9:00 am - 10:00 am
  • Zone 2 students: 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
  • Zone 3 students:  2:00 pm  - 3:00 pm
    • Broadmead Junior cohort: 11:30 am - 12:30 pm
    • Saanichton Junior cohort: 9:30 am - 10:30 am

Thursday, Sept. 8

Orientation for NEW students only by learning zone

  • Zone 1 students : 9:00 am - 10:00 am
  • Zone 2 students: 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
    • Includes Saanichton Junior cohort students 
  • Zone 3 students:  2:00 pm  - 3:00 pm
    • Includes Broadmead Junior cohort students

Friday, Sept. 9 

No school on Friday’s for ILC students

Monday, Sept. 12  - Thursday, Sept. 15 

Regular instructional day. All students attend their full learning zone.

  • Zone 1: 8:45 am - 10:45 am
  • Zone 2: 10:45 am - 12:45 pm
  • Zone 3: 1:15 pm  -  3:15 pm

 

Purpose of Orientation Days:

  • Welcome students back to school and help them feel safe
  • Meet staff, reconnect with friends, and become comfortable in learning environment
  • Answer any questions students might have

 

Take a Hike: For students enrolled in our Take a Hike program, the Take a Hike team will communicate with you directly about start up information.

 

Year at a Glance: The ILC Year at a Glance document will provide you with an overview of important dates we currently have on the calendar.  We will update this information periodically throughout the year. We will also update our website with any new upcoming important dates or events to be aware of.  Please check the website regularly at https://ilc.saanichschools.ca/.

Learning Time: Your learning at ILC is important to us! Below is our Zonal schedule. Please make sure to come on time everyday and make the very most of your learning time with us. We are here to help you and support you to meet your goals. Students can enter the school from the front door. If you are unsure of your learning zone, please contact the front desk at Broadmead or Saanichton.

We are all looking forward to a smooth start-up and an exciting school year ahead.  The staff at ILC are amazing individuals who collectively strive to provide the best education possible for your students in a safe and caring environment.  Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
