SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

  1. District/Authority   (6 awards of $1250 each for ILC)
    Criteria:
    • Student must have Canadian Citizenship or permanent resident status and fulfill graduation requirements by August 31, 2025
    • Graduating student who has excelled in one of: indigenous languages & culture, fine arts, applied skills, physical activity, international languages, community service, or trades
    • Proceeding to a post-secondary career orientated program
    • Student has 5 years to redeem the $1250 voucher
    • Student pays tuition, and receives reimbursement at later date**
    • Application deadline: May 15th

  2. District Education  (1 award of $500)
    Criteria:
    • Outstanding student who plans to enter the teaching profession
    • Selection based on academic achievement and extra-curricular activities
    • Include a statement of future plans and goals
    • Application deadline: May 15th

  3. Saanich Fruit Growers Scholarship   (1 award  of $500)
    Criteria:
    • To support an outstanding student who intends to pursue work or further education in agriculture, horticulture or land use
    • SIN number required
    • Application deadline: May 15th

  4. Canadian Federation of University Women (1 award of $1500) 
    Criteria:
    • Graduating student from a public secondary school in SD63 
    • Pursuing post-secondary education 
    • Proof of acceptance to post secondary institution and indication of intention to begin studies in her graduation year 
    • A covering letter explaining her ambitions for post secondary education and how this award will be valuable 
    • Open to all women including those who identify as part of the women’s community 
    • Application deadline: May 15th

  5. Saanich Teacher's Association Scholarship (STA) (1 award of $1000)

    Criteria:
    • graduating student who:
      • a) has expressed interest in furthering their education 
      • b) has demonstrated leadership, within the school or community, in the area of interest they are planning to pursue after graduation; and
      • c) has written a 250 word essay that explains their area of leadership and their educational goals.
    • Payment will be made to the recipient upon proof of paid tuition within three (3) years of receiving the scholarship
    • Application deadline: May 15th.

  6. ILC Scholarship (1 award of $1000 for ILC)

    Criteria:
    • Graduating student from ILC
    • Has demonstrated noteworthy perseverance in achieving her/his/their academic goals
    • Is pursuing post-secondary education beginning in their graduation year
    • Has been accepted to a post-secondary institution
    • Submits an application letter explaining their ambitions for post-secondary education and how this award will be valuable
    • Application Deadline: May 15 th

  7. Monk Office Graduation Scholarship (1 award for ILC or SIDES)
    Criteria:
    • To support an outstanding graduating student entering full-time post secondary education
    • Has a C+ average or better overall
    • Received 80% in 3 recognized courses in related areas of specialty in grade 11 & 12
    • Is pursuing environment studies
    • At least one letter of reference from a specialty area
    • A transcript of grade 11 and grade 12 marks including predictions for the last courses of grade 12
    • Application Deadline: May 15th 
  8.  Lobstick Foundation Trades Bursary  (2 awards of $1000 for District)
    • 1 award in the Trades, and 1 award in the field of Health Care/Nursing 
    • To support a graduating female student pursuing post-secondary education in Health Care/Nursing or the Trades. 
    • Acknowledges a student who has faced financial hardship
    • Proof of acceptance or registration in a post secondary program in Trades or Health Care / Nursing.
    • Application Deadline: May 15th.
  9.  Lockwood Family Foundation Scholarship (1 award of $2000 for District)
    • To support a graduating student in SD63 pursuing further education/training in Trades/Construction
    • Acknowledge a student who has faced financial hardship and demonstrated commitment to continue their education
    • Include details of trades/apprenticeship training or related studies (completed or in progress)
    • Proof of acceptance to a post-secondary or Trades program.
    • Selection will be made by the Lockwood Family and the SD63 Scholarship Committee
    • Application Deadline: May 15th
  10. Joy Paquin Memorial Scholarship (2 award of $1000 for District)
    • Awarded to an outstanding graduating student entering full time post-secondary education whose goal is to become a K-12 teacher
    • Letter of acceptance from post-secondary institution for entry in graduation year
    • Include a separate statement, in paragraphs, of future plans and goals
    • Donor to select recipient in consultation with SD63 Scholarship committee
    • Application Deadline: May 15th 
  11. Dianne Cross (1 award of $750 for District)
    • Awarded to a graduating student to further enhance study in the Arts in any of: painting, sculpture, fibre, dance, drama, music, or voice. 
    • To be used for artistic development, such as tuition, lesson fees, instrument purchase or rental
    • This award is non-academic and is awarded based on need and merit more than academic achievement
    • Include a letter of recommendation from current or previous instructor (inside or outside of school) stating the area of interest and level of ability
    • Application must be signed by a school counsellor
    • Selection will be made by Dianne Cross and the SD63 Scholarship Committee
    • Application Deadline: May 15th
  12. Forrest Owens Memorial Scholarship (1 award of $1400 for SD63)
    • Awarded to a graduating student pursuing further education or training in firefighting, fire safety, medical/first responder, emergency management or public service (consideration may also be given for pursuit of a career in construction)
    • Student must reside in the municipality of Central Saanich, Tsartlip First Nation or Tsawout First Nation
    • Good academic record, attendance and citizenship
    • Involvement in community activities, volunteer or service oriented work, sports achievement, etc.
    • Keen interest or specific skill in the area of endeavor
    • Application to include cover letter detailing future plans and how the award is valuable to you 
    • Proof of acceptance in a post secondary program in one of the specialty areas listed above.
    • Donor to select recipient in consultation with the District Scholarship Committee
    • Application Deadline: May 15th  
  13. Marilyn Pinder (2 awards of $500 for SD63)
    • To support an outstanding student entering full-time post-secondary education who has overcome challenges and intends to continue learning a second language.
    • Must meet graduation requirements in the current year and be accepted at a post-secondary institution
    • Has demonstrated perseverance and has overcome challenges
    • Has pursued second language acquisition
    • Selection will be made by SD63 Scholarship Committee in consultation with the Pinder family
    • Application Deadline: May 15th 
  14. Mosaic Forest Management Scholarship (1 award of $500 for SD63)
    • To support a graduating Indigenous student pursuing studies at a post-secondary program in the field of Forestry. Consideration for Fisheries or other natural resource management fields. Must demonstrate strong leadership skills.
    • Commitment to a post-secondary institution - ideally with a letter of acceptance
    • District to select recipient
    • Application Deadline: May 15th 
  15. Jan Heinrichs Memorial Scholarship (1 award of $500+ for SD63)
    • Heinrichs and Evans families along with District Committee to select recipient
    • Graduating student who has participated in a school-based music or drama program
    • Intention to pursue post-secondary education
    • Student has demonstrated passion, integrity, and leadership through encouragement of others
    • Cover letter to include:
      1. details of interests and achievements in the Arts;
      2. how their personal journey has been influenced by participating in a school-based music or drama program; and
      3. statement of goals and plans to include the Arts in their future.
    • A letter of recommendation from a Performing Arts teacher
